The World
The forest remembers.
The forest does not behave like scenery. It behaves like memory — quiet, unreliable, and slow to let anything go.
Fictional HIBIKI demo lore
Fallen Tree takes place in a rural woodland that has quietly stopped behaving the way woods should. Paths return to the same clearing. A turn you know arrives at a place you have never been. The weather keeps its own schedule.
This page collects the motifs the world is built from. They are atmosphere and theme — not rules, systems or canon. Read them the way you would read a place: slowly, and without expecting a clear answer.

Signs the forest leaves behind.
The Forest as Memory
Nothing here stays where it was left. The woodland seems to keep its own account of a route, and that account does not always match yours.
Fog
Fog does not hide the way so much as withhold it. Distances lose their edges, and what you saw a moment ago becomes uncertain rather than gone.
The Empty Path
The path is open and there is no one on it. Progress brings no reassurance — only the sense that the way ahead has been waiting longer than you have.
The Fallen Trunk
A trunk lies across the route — a rupture and an obstruction at once. The fallen tree is not a landmark to pass; it is the place where the way breaks.
Tree Rings
Rings in cut wood and weathered stumps are buried time made visible — repetition, season upon season, pressed into the grain and refusing to stay quiet.
Split Branches
Where a branch divides, so does a memory — two versions of the same moment, both possible, neither complete. The split is the shape the story keeps taking.
Evidence without explanation.
A cabin, a station, a table set for no one — the human residue of the woodland. These traces are not clues with tidy answers; they are the certainty that someone was here, and the quieter certainty that they meant to come back.

Keep following the trail.
